Sylvia's Birthday - March 12, 2003

Sylvia and Michael decided to come over to Salem and Portland to celebrate Sylvia's birthday on the weekend of March 14th. They left The Dalles and drove to Salem on Friday night. They went out to dinner and spent the night with some friends, Crystal and Doug. Sylvia and Doug's birthday are on the same day, so they try to get together every year to celebrate. They spent Saturday with Crystal and Doug visiting and catching up with each other.

Michael and Sylvia arrived at our home late Saturday afternoon. We visited, then Rocke and I cooked meatloaf, scalloped potatoes, and fried green beans. We all enjoyed Sylvia's birthday dinner.

After dinner, we visited and relax some more, then decided to go out and listen to some music. We went to The Benson Hotel in downtown Portland and listened to some Jazz by the Jean Ronne Quartet with Lee Wuthenow. The music was great. After enjoying the music and having a drink, we decided to go to The Trails End in Oregon City and listen to some Blues by The Back Alley Band. The music there was also great. We had a few drinks there, listened to music, and Sylvia and I managed to get in a few dances. What a great time we all had!

We finally got home around 1:30 am, Sunday morning. After arriving home, we decided we all wanted a piece of Sylvia's birthday cake. So we lit the candles, she blew them out and we all enjoyed some cake. After getting satisfied with birthday cake, we all went to bed.

Sunday, after we all got up, I fixed a big breakfast. Michael and Sylvia wanted to stop at some of the waterfalls along the Gorge on the way home, so they left soon after breakfast.
