Rocke's Birthday - 2005

What! Time for another birthday party for Rocke. Seems like his birthdays are getting closer and closer together.

On Rocke's birthday, Wednesday, February 16, Rocke and I had a small celebration here at home. I cooked a special dinner and after dinner I surprised Rocke with a small Lemon Cake for his birthday. I had put some candles on it and sang "Happy Birthday" to him. Rocke also heard from all of the kids. Erin and Kate, Robin and Mary's two oldest kids, sang a duet of Happy Birthday as did Ryan and Sarah. Rocke always enjoys that immensely.

We had another birthday celebration with the kids on Saturday, February 19th, which we enjoyed very much. Having the kids and grandkids around for the afternoon was a wonderful birthday gift from all of them. No matter how often we see them, it seems as if we never have enough time with them.

Rocke had requested a "Carrot Cake" this year for his birthday. I found my favorite carrot cake recipe and made him one from scratch. While making the cake, I also made a couple of little cupcakes on the side, so that Rocke and I could sample before the big day. Yummy, we both agreed that it was delicious.

Ryan, Sarah, Zach, Ross, Heather, Austin and Sydney came over to help celebrate Rocke's birthday. We had a great time visiting and catching up on all the news from each other. Rocke and I enjoyed watching the grandkids play and seeing how much they had grown and learned since the last time we saw them. Even is only a week's gone by, it seems liek they've learned a lot.

Then it was time for cake and ice cream. We lit the candles and sang our traditional, out-of-tune "Happy Birthday" to Rocke. Everyone enjoyed the cake and ice cream and then it was time to open gifts. Austin and Zach, with the rest of us enjoyed watching Rocke open his gifts.
