MAPLE BARS

3/4 cup scalded milk
1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup sugar
1 tsp salt
1 egg
1/2 cup warm water
2 pkg yeast

Combine first 4 ingredients and allow to cool to luke warm. Dissolve yeast in warm water with 1/2 tsp sugar. Add to milk mixture along with egg. Combine well. Add 2 cups flour and beat until smooth. Add 1 1/2 cup additional flour, 1/2 cup at a time until all flour is added. Dough will be sticky. Cover and let rise until double in bulk about 45 minutes. Stir down and turn out on well flour board. Roll to 1/2 inch thickness. Cut into desire shape. Allow to rise until double. Deep fry at 375 degrees. Drain on paper absorbant towel and frost. FROSTING: 3 cups powdered sugar, 1/3 cup butter (softened), and 1/2 cup maple syrup.
