2 cups minus 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon + 2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
Pinch salt
3 tablespoons stick margarine, chilled
3/4 cup low-fat (1.5%) buttermilk
1 1/2 ounces sharp cheddar cheese, grated
Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Line baking sheet with parchment or wax paper, spray with nonstick cooking spray.
In medium bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Add 2 tablespoons of the margarine and blend with pastry cutter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add buttermilk and cheese; combine with fork, handling dough as little as possible. Drop by spoonfuls onto prepared baking sheet; bake until lightly browned, 8 10 minutes.
While biscuits are baking, in small micro-wavable bowl, add remaining tablespoon margarine; microwave on High until margarine is melted, 5-10 seconds. Stir in garlic powder; set aside.
When biscuits are done, remove from oven and brush margarine mixture evenly over warm biscuits. Remove from baking sheet and serve immediately
