Visit with Chuck & Diane Williams - December 2002

On December 27th, Mary and I decided to take a trip to Medford to see Mary's brother, Chuck and his wife, Diane Williams. The ride down was uneventful, the weather cooperated. It rained solid from about Cottage Grove on!

We arrived at Chuck and Diane's house at about 4:30 or so. At about 6:00, Diane had put dinner on the table with all the trimmings. Lasagna, bread and salad. We had taken down a 100% home-made lemon meringue pie and chocolate meringue pie for dessert. We had a great time talking about old times (mostly about the Williamses) until about 11:30 or later.

We were up late at Chuck and Diane's (we stayed with them) and had a late breakfast. After breakfast, we drove to historic Jacksonville where there are a number of interesting shops on Main Street. It was quite wet, but we were outside for only a little bit at a time.

We had an early dinner at a Mexican restaurant, then on to the movies to see the movie of "Lord of the Rings – Two Towers" (the second of the series). It was a great movie, but I, for one, couldn't remember all of the characters from the first Lord of the Rings. I need to watch both of them again before the third movie comes out next Christmas.

After the movie, we went back to Chuck and Diane's to have more dessert (pie) and conversation until about 11:30 or midnight.

We slept in again, had another late breakfast, visited some more and left for the drive back to Portland at about 12:30 in the afternoon or so.

We stopped in Cottage Grove to visit with our sister-in-law, Vangie for a while, then over to the Bohemian Tavern to see Dick. That is his home-away-from-home! We visited with Dick for a couple of hours and then we went out to dinner. We could only find one place open at 5:30 p.m. in Cottage Grove.

After dinner, we had a relatively uneventful drive back to Portland.
